It’s Seafood Time with Gorton’s Seafood

It’s seafood time in the Mulkey house! Evenings in our house can often be a bit hectic, but we always make sure to have dinner together and catch up with one another. This past weekend, on my weekly grocery shopping trip to my local Kroger family store, I made sure I went to the freezer aisle and picked out a couple of Gorton’s Seafood options for lunches and dinners. This week I bought our three favorites- Gorton’s Beer Battered Fillets, Parmesan Crusted Fillets, and Crunchy Breaded Fish Sticks. Tonight we got home a bit late and I knew it was the perfect night to swap out our typical chicken tenders and dip dinner for some delicious Beer Battered Gorton’s 100% Whole Fillets! After a busy day of school, work, and baseball practice, it was easy to put these tasty beer battered fillets in the air fryer while I spent some quality time with the kids before dinner. I love that no matter if we want to eat them al a cart or as a tasty sandwich, they are always filling, tasty, and healthy.

Did you know that the average American only gets half the amount of seafood he or she should consume? Based on the USDA’s recommendation, people should eat seafood at least two times a week. Fish is a high-protein, low-calorie food that is filled with omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins such as D and B2(riboflavin). Fish is also rich in calcium and minerals such as iron, zinc, iodine, magnesium, and potassium.

In the past, I have been guilty of not incorporating enough seafood in my families diet so I have been making more of an effort this year to cook seafood at least two times a week to ensure we are getting the recommended seafood amount. Luckily, Gorton’s makes it easy to incorporate more seafood into our weekly meal planning. I can easily grab a variety of their seafood while grocery shopping or add it to my grocery pick up order. Gorton’s Seafood is not only a healthy meal option, but also affordable and tasty. I love how easy it is to swap out our typical proteins at meal time for seafood that is just as filling.

Don’t forget about lunch either! Fish is a great, healthy protein option for lunch. I can cook the kids crunchy breaded fish sticks in minutes and pair with some noodles and fruit or vegetable after they get out of school for the day. I am all for easy lunches that the kids enjoy and I know are a healthy, nutritious lunch. It makes our days easier and ensures that they get the great benefits of eating our recommended serving of weekly fish!

No matter if you are looking to switch up your typical lunches or dinners or just needing to add more seafood into your diet, Gorton’s Seafood is the answer! Gorton’s Seafood offers healthy, tasty, and affordable seafood options within grasp at your local Kroger and Kroger family store. Visit your local Kroger store today and start making the change to eat seafood at least two times a week with Gorton’s Seafood!
