It is crazy how fast a trip can go when you are having fun! On Saturday I woke up early as usual and walked down for some coffee. The hotel had a nice spread of breakfast. Everything from yogurt, fruit, pastries, eggs, biscuits, and gravy. I had done a little research on the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial the day before and wanted to take the short drive to go check it out. So I grabbed my coffee, a bagel, and headed back to my room to get ready.
I am a huge history person and although I mainly like world history, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out the farm and woods that President Lincoln grew up in. It was only a short 20 minute drive from my hotel and was easy to find. I spent about an hour exploring which you can read more on my blog tomorrow. If you are in the area or passing by, I highly recommend visiting! Walking through the woods knowing the rich history left me with goosebumps. After I finished up there, I drove back towards my hotel. I stopped for a quick water break and then I decided to do some more exploring in Rockport, Indiana. I walked through downtown looking at old buildings and had fun taking some pictures. Rockport is a small town but rich with history. It gives a home feel! Afterwards, I headed back over the Kentucky boarder to Owensboro for some lunch!
For lunch I grabbed us some delicious cantina from Salsarita’s! I had never been here before but Hanna has talked about how good it was for so long. We each got burritos which were absolutely delicious. Packed with fresh veggies, grilled chicken, and topped with their one of a kind queso. It hit the spot for sure! It was convenient being able to order on the app and then take it back to Hanna’s house to enjoy. We ate, talked, and hung out the rest of the day. It was a such great time and so nice to get some girl time in as back home I don’t get it often. I fell in love with her cat who I wish I could’ve taken back home with me. Once it got dark and we were ready for dinner, we headed back out for a little mom time!
We decided for dinner to head to Cracker Barrel which was also located in Owensboro. I had never been but it was also delicious. Good, southern homemade food like grandma used to make. Their hash brown casserole was my favorite, second to their biscuits! After our yummy dinner, we checked out their gift shop which took me back to my childhood with 90’s candy and adorable outfits. After, we headed to Target. What’s better than an adventure to Target with your mom friend? It’s hard to beat! Sadly the night was coming to an end and I had to say goodbye before heading back to my hotel to get a couple hours of sleep before my flight first thing in the morning.
This trip was amazing to say the least. I have talked to Hanna literally everyday for years and followed her even longer. She became such a huge support in my influencer and blogger journey. She became someone I could lean on when times got hard. She became someone I knew I could trust no matter what. She became my best friend and even though we live across the country from each other, we are just as close as if we lived across the road. Although I wish we were closer, I am so thankful I got this opportunity to officially meet.
Also, a huge thank you to my husband who not only surprised me and planned this trip, but stayed with the kids for four days. I am so thankful for all he does for me and I have to admit, I am one lucky woman!
Counting down till we get to meet up again!
