The other day I was thinking of all the things I wanted to do before Christmas. Then it dawned on me… What about a Christmas bucket list weekend! So this past weekend my family and I did all of our favorite holiday things. We went to our local Christmas parade, had a gingerbread house decorating contest, and even enjoyed a fun dance off while listening to our holiday favorite on the deck with the propane fireplace going and hot chocolate. Our kids LOVED every single thing we did and I think it may just become my new favorite holiday family tradition!
I love the idea of bucket lists and doing fun activities. The holidays are filled with so much joy so what better than to make your very own holiday family bucket list. Sit down at the table and ask everyone to write down a few things they want to do. It can be as simple as driving around looking at holiday lights or as crazy as dressing up as elves or the grinch while baking some Christmas cookies!
We loved gathering around the streets while the parade came through. Our daughter even got to give a special hug to Santa afterwards which surely made her entire year! The next day we went to breakfast. Afterwards, we went to another kids Christmas event and the kids got to see Santa again. After some fun in town, we came home and binge watched our favorite holiday movies till the sun went down. We canceled our Saturday night plans and stayed home. The kids helped make some delicious hot chocolate, we kicked on the propane fireplace, grabbed some blankets, and had fun out on our deck. The kids of course got us adults up for a dance off. It was a total blast and a night I am sure I will look back on for years to come. The next day we had a fun Christmas themed breakfast complete with gingerbread waffles and sprinkles. We played as a family, baked a homemade pecan pie, watched another fun Christmas romcom on Netflix, and even tried some new recipes for Christmas dinner. The weekend wouldn’t be complete without a gingerbread contest and some Christmas lights too!
No matter what may be on your Christmas bucket list, gather the family or even some friends for a fun filled weekend! This is the last weekend before Christmas so have fun and be merry.
