I refuse to ever work a 9 to 5 again. Yes, I said it and I’m not ashamed. When I began dreaming about becoming a fulltime blogger and content creator, I was nervous and had no idea where to even begin. If you would’ve told me this would be my life 5 years ago, I would’ve laughed. I spent countless time envious of those who got to travel, work from anywhere, and experience life in such a beautiful, crazy way. Yet here I am today, out exploring my favorite parts of the Sierra Nevada mountains, living my “dream” that is now my everyday blessing. When I looked at my husband and told him I was gonna go for it, I didn’t even truly believe I could do it. But after countless risks and sometimes winging it, I did it.
Over the last 4 years I have loved single minute of traveling to new places, meeting so many amazing people along the way, seeing life in a whole new outlook, and living a life I know I’ll look back on and be proud of. I have been able to work with so many amazing brands that have opened so many doors for myself and my family.
So you may be wondering… why won’t I ever work a 9 to 5 again?
Let’s be real, being self-employed is not only hard at times, but also very scary. I’m an entrepreneur and some years have been harder than others. But each year I grow more and more. Each year I make more of my dreams a reality. I once wanted to be a history teacher and now I can’t even imagine doing it for a living. I love the freedom I have. I love the challenge. I love that I never miss a moment with my family and I am always able to drop my work if I need unlike if I worked a 9 to 5. I love that there is no limit. Most of all, I love that I get to make my own hours anywhere I want. If I want to bring my work with me out in the woods or on a vacation, I can do that. I don’t work any less though.
The reality is a 9 to 5 is not in my dreams which is why it will never be for me. Some may wonder why I don’t even think about college. Although college is for some people, it is not for me. The fact is that society so often tries to ignore that you do not need to go to college to become successful or to get a good paying job. Some of my most successful friends never stepped foot on a college campus. I am far more successful than if I would’ve gone to college and became a teacher. Again, not that there is anything wrong with college. I have heard countless comments from people pushing me to go and it often makes me laugh. College is not the only option in life.
See the thing is we only get one life. One life to make our dreams a reality and live to our fullest potential. Why should we do it by just skimming by? Go out and live. No matter your age or situation, you can still live the life you have always wanted. Make your dreams a reality no matter how hard it may feel. Your dream life doesn’t have to stay a dream. You CAN go out and make it a reality.
What is your dream job?
