Welcome back! Life has been crazy to say the least but I am excited to be back and writing. It is officially October and that means spooky season! Anyone else feel like even with the current events happening in the world, this year has blown by? I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact we are almost to 2021. Maybe it is just hopeful wishing for a better year or maybe it’s because this year has pretty much been canceled, but I feel like we just celebrated New Years.
Either way, fall is my favorite time of the year. Autumn colors, pumpkin patches, fresh apple pies, and cool, crisp evenings around the fire. This October I am doing a Halloween series once a week with fun ideas, foods, and even some spooky drinks! Although this October may be a bit different than previous years, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun. This week we did a family Halloween movie night and it was such a blast. Disney+ has some of our Halloween favorites like Hocus Pocus and Halloween Town. They also have some other cute movies the kids love which is great! You can watch your favorite classic movies without having to rent or buy them. The kids picked out Hocus Pocus to watch first and we made some tasty Halloween popcorn!
I love making fun holiday popcorn. I got candy corn and marshmallows to add in as corn and ghosts! The kids were quick to devour it. Plus, you can’t go wrong with sweet and salty!
We found this fun Halloween spider bowl at our local Savemart. It is perfect for all month long and dishwasher safe.
We even made “pumpkin” lemonade. This was probably the kid’s favorite out of the whole night. Although it doesn’t actually taste like pumpkin, it looks and taste good! I used our favorite no sugar added lemonade and added tropical water enhancer I buy regularly from Walmart. Grab some fun cups at the store for even more fun!
We gathered on the couch and had a fun night having a Halloween movie marathon. I know many pumpkin patches and typical Halloween events aren’t going to be open this year due to the pandemic so this is a great family fun alternative.
Stay tuned for next week for a bootacular dinner!
Xoxo
