Escape to Lake Tahoe to a paradise like no other

It had been some time since Matt and I had traveled. Life gets busy between work, two toddlers, and family. With our 4 year anniversary in February, we wanted to go somewhere new to celebrate and I had my eyes set on the beautiful Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa, and Casino nestled on the north end of the lake sitting on its very own beach. Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe offers spectacular views, one of a kind rooms, suites, and cottages, fine dining, a wide variety of activities, a 24/7 casino, and a true Lake Tahoe experience. We arrived early afternoon on Wednesday after a 3 1/2 hour drive from down south in Sonora, Ca where we call home. Up CA 49 with many beautiful views and then on to CA 50 to where we were met with off the road waterfalls and snowy mountains. Upon arrival, valet welcomed us and we went into the grand entrance to be greeted by the front desk and checked up as we each were given a welcome glass of champagne! A perfect start to our getaway to Lake Tahoe.

After checking in, we decided to valet our car and grab our bags to go up to our room. We got the family king suite and were blown away with how spectacular it was. Walking in we were greeted with a beautiful entry way with a wall size mirror, our very own coffee bar, and mini fridge underneath. To the left, we walked down the hall to find a closet perfect for storing our luggage and hanging our dinner outfits. Into the bathroom, we were met with a beautiful bathtub, double sinks, a separate shower, and private toilet. Stocked with natural soaps and anything you may have forgotten to pack; make-up wipes, nail polish remover wipes, cotton balls, and even a moon light perfect for putting on make-up in the morning. A beautiful capture of Lake Tahoe above the bathtub truly gave a nature yet elegant vibe. Back out into the main room, there was a bunk bed to the side equipment with lights perfect for kids. To the other side laid our beautiful king bed, swivel out tv, a big enough dresser to fit all our clothes, and a table perfect for working. With a three panel window and a lounge couch, the view of the mountains and lake was exquisite at sunrise and sunset.

After we got settled and changed, we decided to grab a quick snack and take a little walk around. We found a delicious sandwhich to split down at the Tahoe Provision which is perfect for grabbing coffee, a pastry, or a easy bite. They also have some unique items and even canned cocktails available. Afterwards we decided to try our luck at the casino and then head down to the lake. We had a pleasant walk down to the lake along the resort trail and found some chairs to pull up on the shoreline.

Nothing beats your toes in the sand, a drink in your hand, and good company as you look upon the beautiful Lake Tahoe.

Sitting by the lake, watching the light fade away and hearing the water wash up to the shore had me so relaxed I thought I may just slip into a dream while sitting there. As it began to get colder, we decided to walk up to the fire. Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe has fires going through out the resort including down at their private beach as well as by the pool. Sit back in a comfy chair while breathing in the fresh air and one of a kind views of the snow covered mountains and blue lake. The resort offers a free s’mores kits upon arrival so grab your roasting stick and travel back to your childhood making gooey s’mores. After relaxing by the fire for a bit, we decided it was time to grab some dinner as our tummy’s growled. For dinner we decided to do something a little more casual at the Cutthroat Saloon. With a wide variety of drinks and pub style food, it was the perfect dinner after a long day on the road. The saloon offers family seating as well as bar seating all while watching some sports among the various TV’s spread out through out the saloon. Our waiter was by far one of the most entertaining people we have met and was truly happy to be there. He had us laughing and helped us decide per his recommendation which ended up being absolutely delicious; I highly recommend their sweet fries with a berry mojito.

The next morning we woke up to a tiny bit of scattered clouds but besides that, wonderful weather considering what a heavy winter Lake Tahoe has gotten. We got ready and headed to do some more exploring. We stopped for breakfast at the Sierra Cafe on the main level which offered many menu items as well as a buffet breakfast that was absolutely delicious. After having one more cup of coffee, we headed out to explore some. We had a few things planned including some nature spots and a brew tasting at a local brewery in Incline Village(stay tuned for my next blog on more tips and must see spots while visiting Lake Tahoe!). As late afternoon approached, we headed back to the resort and decided to enjoy some time in the pool. Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe offers a beautiful outdoor patio, a heated pool that can be accessed inside or outside, and family friendly and adult only hot tubs, lounge chairs, a fire pit, and even a kids play area. We enjoyed some time swimming and relaxing in the hot tub with the jets. Next, we were off to dinner at the Lone Eagle Grille which not only offers delicious food but also spectacular views of the lake. We sipped some wine, soaked in more of the lake, and talked and laughed as we ate dinner. For desert we had the famous Baked Tahoe which blew our taste buds away. After a long day, we decided to head back to the suite for a little r&r. We laid in bed watching tv and reminiscing on all the fun we had. Waking up the next morning saddened by the fact we were heading home, I knew we would be back. Not only is Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe one of the most beautiful resorts we have been too, the resort offers so much. I’m not sure if it was the one of a kind views and sunsets, awesome amenities unlike others, or the staff makes you feel like family with their “good morning, how are you today”, but we truly fell in love with Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa, and Casino.
