Power Up the Season- Shop Tuolumne County NOW

Nestled in the high Sierra of Tuolumne County, Twain Harte is a beautiful little mountain town with picturesque views, tasty eateries, unique shopping, and one of a kind lodging that will make you want to stay forever. Named after authors Mark Twain and Bret Harte, Twain Harte is the perfect launching spot for adventures in the Stanislaus National Forest or even just a fun mountain escape! Tuolumne County has always had a special place in my heart so when Visit Tuolumne County reached out, I was so excited to partner up together. We had such a fun time exploring Twain Harte. We ate some delicious food at The Rock and The Sportsman Coffee Shop, found some holiday gifts at The Walk In Closet and The Harte of the Kitchen, wondered around town, and relaxed at our cabin at the Lazy Z Resort. With the recent power outages by PG&E, some of these businesses have been drastically effected and it is more important now than ever before to support local. Even if that means supporting local wherever you are traveling, it truly makes a difference for small shops.

Relaxing at the cabin looking at the amazing things Tuolumne County has to offer!

Although you guys know I have such a passion for traveling California and the USA, Tuolumne County has some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. With being the gateway to Yosemite, holding such rich history in the gold country, and some of the most scenic views in the high sierras, Tuolumne County has a little bit for everyone. Our trip began with us heading up to Twain Harte on Thursday. We checked into our cabin, which is apart of the Lazy Z Resort, that was conveniently located in the heart of Twain Harte. We relaxed for a little bit before heading out to start our fun adventure. Our cabin had two bedrooms, one bedroom with a queen bed and one bedroom with bunk beds. It also had a spacious living room, full kitchen and bathroom, and a wonderful deck that we were able to sit out on and overlook into town. As we sat outside, locals waved and greeted us. It truly felt like we were right at home with the trees surrounding us and smiling faces.

Our beautiful cabin. The Lazy Z Resort was so sweet to host us and we loved spending the night in the heart of Twain Harte.

We decided to start our adventure off with lunch. We went to The Rock, located right across the street from our cabin. This pub style restaurant offers outside seating which is also dog friendly. Their portions are generous and the food was delicious, my favorite being their fries! Once our bellies were full, we decided to walk it off a bit. We stumbled upon The Walk-In Closet. Owned by a boss mom, The Walk-In Closet is a new and used clothing store. There are also various artist pieces and unique jewelry. With so many cute and unique pieces, I walked out with a new outfit and some Christmas gifts for our family.

The Walk-In Closet has so many adorable new and gently used clothes!

Across the street we found ourselves at the The Harte of Kitchen. I was blown away by how many unique kitchen gadgets they had and loved that they even host cooking classes. From homemade pasta to kitchen appliances to j then tools, they have you covered! The owners were so sweet and we enjoyed finding some unique pieces for our home. They even sell some fresh spices, jam, and other pieces that are perfect for the gifting or saving for yourself. Once we finished our shopping, we decided to call it an evening and enjoyed a walk to the park as the sun began to set. Among local shops and restaurants, Twain Harte also is home to miniature golf, a full golf course, a public park and library, and hiking trails. We spent the rest of the night watching a movie in the cabin with the kids and then drifted asleep.

The next morning I woke up before the rest of the family and enjoyed a warm cup of coffee on the deck as the sun rose over the trees. The town was quiet besides the birds chirping. The crisp fall air was so rejuvenating! Once everyone was ready to go, we decided to have breakfast at The Sportmans Coffee Shop. With low carb and vegan options, the Sportmans Coffee Shop is a local spot with a twist. I ordered a breakfast burrito that covered my entire plate and Matthew ordered a breakfast platter that instantly left a delicious aroma the minute it was brought out. The food was absolutely amazing and we had fun talking to others who come regularly. If you ever visit the Sportmans Coffee Shop, make sure to grab some homemade sausage! They even offer vegan sausage. Before heading back home, we stopped by the Lazy Z Resort to have some last minute fun. We played some pool, corn hole, and sat beside the hot tub taking in the autumn colors that surrounded us. The Lazy Z Resort offers accommodations for vacations, weddings, retreats, and reunions just a short drive away from Twain Harte. We enjoyed our time and already talking about planning a staycation again!

Our scrumptious breakfast!

Our family had such a wonderful time shopping, dining, and experiencing beautiful Twain Harte. It was the perfect getaway! With mountain inspired eateries, local shopping with unique items, and lodging that truly made us feel at home, Twain Harte is the perfect mountain escape for a fun filled adventure!

I love shopping local and Twain Harte has so many great shops to choose from! Our two favorites were The Walk-In Closet and The Harte of the Kitchen.

Local eateries have mountain inspired cousin but still taking it to the next level! We ate at The Rock and The Sportsman Coffee Shop during our stay. Both blew our expectations out of the water and that is coming from foodies!

Sunrise view from our cabin deck.

Our cabin was spacious and so homey! The kids had so much fun and after dinner, we sat on the comfy couch watching old movies. A perfect night!

At the Lazy Z Resort, autumn foliage is in full swing.

We had fun checking out all the resort had to offer! Between outside corn hole, poker, a beautiful pool and hot tub, pole, countless books, and just good old nature walks, there is a little bit of everything to accommodate the whole family. I love that it is such a fast drive into town as well!

So many wonderful shops and restaurants all within walking distance!
