Turkey burger sliders with Sargento® Colby Jack

This blog is sponsored by Sargento® but all opinions are my own.

Our family has been soaking in this summer with all the tasty food and fun adventures. As the summer quickly comes to an end, we are welcomed with back to school time! We have two kids and this year our son is starting preschool full time which will be a huge adjustment for us. We love creating fun meals together so I am also excited to begin creating yummy, fun lunches for our son that he can enjoy even if he isn’t at home. One of this summer’s favorite among many, especially the kids, were my turkey burger sliders. With some spices, lean turkey burger meat, and our favorite Sargento® sliced cheese, we have made a favorite that everyone asks for again and again.

Our family loves to grill most of the year, especially in the summer and fall months. Although we love to grill our burgers they also can be cooked in a pan or on a stove top. Often on nights that we don’t have time or I am wanting to get dinner done a little bit faster, I will throw these turkey burgers on the stove for a quick dinner. As a mom of two, it didn’t take me long to realize that full size burgers tend to be a tad bit harder for little hands to eat sometimes. Although we still have full sized burgers off and on, these sliders are great for little hands. They also are fairly easy to make making for more time to soak in the moments with your little ones!

This is the perfect meal to bring the whole family together or even perfect for lunches. We love adding our favorite Sargento® sliced cheese to bring it all together. Sargento is a family owned and operated company located in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Commonly known for their sliced, snack, and shredded cheese, they also provide cheeses, sauces, and appetizers to restaurants and food manufacturers. Sargento has been making American history since it was founded in 1953 by offering the first pre-sliced natural cheese for convenience to Americans. Since then, Sargento has made many other important historical markers such as leading the way in pre-packaged shredded cheeses and reusable packaging.

Not only do the kids love Sargento® cheese but as a parent I love that it is natural cheese. Both of my kids love cheese and there is never a time we don’t have it stocked in our refrigerator. Which is why Sargento® sliced cheese is the perfect addition to my kid friendly turkey burgers. After I am finished making our sliders, we grab our food, sit down at the table, and catch up with each other while enjoying our yummy dinner!

Kid Friendly Turkey Burger Sliders

Level: Easy

Yield: 12 turkey burger sliders

Time total: 25 minutes

Prep: 15 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

You will need:

• 1 and 1/2 half pounds of ground turkey meat

• 1 package of your favorite Sargento® sliced cheese

• 1 egg yolk

• Olive oil

• 1 teaspoon onion powder

• .5 teaspoon parsley

• .5 teaspoon salt

• .5 teaspoon pepper

• 1 12-count package of mini sweet rolls

shredded lettuce

ketchup, bbq sauce, mustard, or any favorite condiment

Instructions:

1.) In a small mixing bowl, mix together the turkey and spices. Add in the one egg yolk. This will ensure your turkey burger sliders do not fall apart.

2.)After the meat is mixed evenly, begin separating the turkey into small ice cream scoop size balls. Remember to get a little olive oil on your hands to keep the meat moist while kneading it balls. You should end up with 12 mini balls.

3.)Move them to a new plate and lightly press them each down to make them into a circle like shape.

4.)You can cook these on a grill or non stick pan. Cook on medium heat for 4 minutes then flip to cook the other side for an additional 4 minutes.

5.)Check burgers to see if they are fully cooked. The internal temperature should be at 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

6.)Top with a slice of your favorite Sargento® sliced cheese and cover for 1 more minute. After that minute sit to the side one a clean plate.

7.)Cut sweet mini rolls in half. Smear your favorite spread on top and bottom. Add one turkey burger slider and put a handful of shredded lettuce on top. You can now also add sliced tomato, onions, or pickles if you choose. Put the top of the sweet mini roll on top and there you have your perfect turkey burger slider ready to eat up!

These sliders can be paired with a pasta salad, corn, or even just good old! This is our most requested meal in our house and my kids normally ask for seconds! Hope you enjoy.
